How To Practice for Results

Practicing well as a musician is more than just about logging hours. Rather than monitoring the quantity of time, let's monitor quality. Here are some practicing tips from a pro!

Thank you to everyone who tuned into this live video about results-oriented practicing for musicians! Whether you’re a pro, a hobbyist, or an aspiring professional, practicing efficiently is important. Rather than just aiming to log a certain amount of hours every week, we can monitor the quality of the work instead — including goals and intentions, and thinking more specifically about what tools, exercises, and strategies are going to help us reach them.

Because, let’s be honest — in a real-world music-making situation, especially if you work in the industry, the artistic results are what matters most. Let’s orient our practicing toward being able achieve results — whether that’s on our own, or when we’re collaborating with other musicians.

I go live every Tuesday at 11 AM ET here on Substack to discuss many more topics like this!

(Please note: the next one, May 26, will be at 2 PM ET, not the normal 11 AM time.)

Hope to see you tuning in some time!
